I had read the first chapter in the brazilian version of GRANTA, and I was really surprised!

The book starts very well, you want to know more about the drunk editor who approves books depending on how hung over he is, about the mysterious girl who writes to the editor telling her story, about the town the girl lives in, which apparently is now controlled by her husband and his brother.

But as the story unfolds, it loses its strength. It an alright read, light and fun, but there's no substance after the first chapters, and by the end of the book, you don't even care about the characters. The feeling is that of a pretty, but juice less fruit.
